Iconic Palm Beach Landmark Turning Pink In Symbol Of Unity With Hurricane Vicitims

JUPITER, FL – January 10, 2018 – The ENTIRE Royal Park Bridge connecting West Palm Beach and Palm Beach will turn a shimmering pink Thursday evening in a symbol of support for hurricane victims as Susan G. Komen kicks off two weekends of events benefiting breast cancer programs . This year a new program, The Promise Fund, will be announced. The fund addresses a very hot news topic, care for the hundreds of thousands of hurricane victims migrating to Florida from Puerto Rico and other areas. It's a big task so Susan G. Komen is joining forces with The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties to begin the effort.

Founder Ambassador Nancy G. Brinker will be joined by dignitaries at the corner of South Clematis and Flagler Drive after sunset to flip a switch bathing the Iconic structure with pink lights–the signature color of the fight against breast cancer. The lighting is generously sponsored by Ellen Levy. Immediately following the illumination dozens of Komen supporters will stand on the bridge holding individual pink lights in a show of unity for hurricane victims relocating to Florida. Palm Tran will debut the 2018 pink breast cancer awareness bus at the event.

The lighting is followed by the Annual Perfect Pink Party Gala fundraiser on January 20, 2018. This year the gala will be held on the MV Grand Celebration Cruise Ship provided by The Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line. This is the FIRST time a gala has EVER been held on a cruise ship. The gala will be held in port until 11PM. Guests may then opt to continue on the weekend cruise to the Bahamas returning Monday morning.

The month culminates with the Susan G. Komen South Florida 2018 Race for the Cure on January 27, 2018 in West Palm Beach.
