11th Annual Highballs & Hibiscus in Jupiter Cancelled

JUPITER, FL – September 2, 2021 – Each September for the past eleven years, socialites and professionals from　the area have gathered for Highballs & Hibiscus, a fun-filled evening benefiting a great cause, Women and Children’s Services at Jupiter Medical Center. The event is one of Jupiter Medical Center Foundation’s signature fundraisers that kicks off the social season.

This year’s event, slated to take place at Eau Palm Beach on Saturday, September 25th was scheduled when COVID case counts were at their lowest, the Delta variant was not a significant concern for the U.S. and vaccination rates were steadily rising. Unfortunately, at this time the overall number of Covid cases in Florida remains high due to the recent Delta variant surge. This coupled with the high transmissibility of the Delta variant, along with the nature of the event – cocktails, dinner and dancing - keeping the safety of our community and its children in mind, hospital leadership has made the decision to postpone Highballs & Hibiscus until September 2022.

Although the Covid-19 pandemic continues to negatively impact our lives in so many ways, on a positive note, the Florida Hospital Association reports a 7.8% decrease in Covid related hospitalizations over the past week across our state. JMC’s Covid-19 cases reflect a 5% drop in our urgent care centers and a 25% drop in hospitalizations at JMC over the past two weeks. This is welcome news and appears to be a promising trend. Hopefully, we can return to the normalcy of social gatherings and events soon.
