PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (January 28, 2019) – The 14th Annual Little Smiles Stars Ball will take place Saturday, February 9 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Palm Beach County Convention Center, Downtown West Palm Beach. The gala benefits Little Smiles of Florida, a local nonprofit organization that helps bring smiles to the faces of children in hospitals, shelters and other facilities through events, activities and gifts.
Each year, nurses representing hospitals from Port St. Lucie to Miami partner with Little Smiles to nominate children to receive special recognition at the Stars Ball. The "stars" are chosen for their extraordinary bravery, character and determination. They are treated like celebrities for the day, complete with makeovers, gowns, tuxedos and complete red-carpet treatment.
More than 400 people are expected to attend the annual event, which is modeled after a Hollywood awards ceremony with award distribution, dinner, dancing, live music, silent auction, live auction and more. Kevin, Virginia and Jason from WRMF’s The KVJ Show emcee the event.
The stars make a grand entrance in limos accompanied by West Palm Beach Police and Fire Rescue vehicles. Escorted by Palm Beach County Sheriff deputies and West Palm Beach police officers, the stars walk the red carpet; stop to sign autographs; and pose for photos.
“It is an absolute privilege to put on the 14th Annual Stars Ball to celebrate these extraordinary children,” said Little Smiles Executive Director Nicole Grossmayer. “This night is incredibly meaningful for our stars. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience in which our guests and sponsors get to play a starring role.”
Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and individuals, funds raised during the Stars Ball will benefit thousands of South Florida children facing devastating circumstances including terminal illness, abandonment and other trauma.
This year, Florida Public Utilities has returned as the presenting sponsor. South Florida businessman Frank Suess and his wife, Herta, will serve as honorary chairs for the event.
“Our big-hearted partners and sponsors truly make this event possible,” said Grossmayer. “They help bring the Little Smiles’ mission to life for this one very special evening. The Stars Ball gives these deserving children and their families the chance to let loose and enjoy the moment.”
