JUPITER, FL – March 1, 2018 – As a Jupiter resident for 20 years, it is securing a bright future of the community’s children that drives Principal Iannitti daily. With a Doctorate in Instructional Leadership, she is someone who truly cares about the education and well-being of each one of her students. InJupiter recently sat down with Principal Iannitti to learn about the current and future successes of Jupiter High School (JHS).
InJupiter: You transferred from Jupiter Middle School’s Principal to Jupiter High School’s Principal in 2016. How would you summarize your past two years?
Iannitti: As Principal of Jupiter Middle School for three-and-a-half years, when I transitioned to JHS I knew a lot of the same kids from the school. They knew me, the parents knew me, and they knew the expectations I had for them. Our focus academically has been taking our Medical Academy to the next level through partnering with Jupiter Medical Center, the development of our orchestra, and the Perry J. Cohen Wetlands Laboratory project.
InJupiter: You are a five-star high school with a 92.9 percent graduation rate. How have you lead JHS student to success?
Iannitti: It is all a team effort! We really focus on helping the kids pass their courses, maintain and raise their GPA’s, and receive the resources and time needed with teachers. It is so important to build relationships and let the kids know that there is an adult that they can go to at any time. We will do anything possible to get them to walk across that stage.
InJupiter: Would you say that the education that the students receive at JHS is exemplary, and equal to that of prep schools, if not more so?
Iannitti: Yes, by far. Because we are a large school, we are able to provide more programs and academies such as Medical, Environmental, Pre-Engineering, Culinary, and Information Technology. We are in the works of developing an E-Commerce Academy. We have the ACE Program from the University of Cambridge, as well as the AP track. Many of our students graduate with multiple college credits.
InJupiter: What has been your biggest accomplishment as the Principal of JHS?
Iannitti: I make sure the kids know that they are a part of something special. We are “Warriors.” We are all about warrior pride and you are a warrior for life. They belong to something big and the traditions will last forever.
Principal Iannitti makes it a priority to interact and help her Warriors at any time
InJupiter: As the new year has recently begun, what are your goals for 2018?
Iannitti: We are focused on having our graduation rate go up and to have every student be a part of an acceleration experience (ACE, AP, or Industry Certification). I believe it prepares them for the future.
