JUPITER, FL – April 7, 2017 – The Admirals Cove Foundation (ACF) held their Inaugural Community Grant Foundation Reception on Thursday, April 6, 2017 to introduce their 2016/2017 Season of Giving Grant Recipients. Although the Foundation's motto is elegantly simple: "Enriching lives," they truly live up to the promise embodied in the two words.
As ACF Chairman of the Board, Eric Becker stated in his opening remarks, "Our vital culture of giving helps us at the same time as it helps the community." That vital culture raised $220,000 (which was distributed prior to the grant-giving event), additionally, the ACF raised $25,000 to create an Emergency Fund to help the community should a dire situation, such as a tropical storm or hurricane strike.
The main purpose for the reception; however, was the disbursement of $412,500 in Grant Monies raised to be disbursed among the following entities:
- Admirals Cove Employee Scholarship (ACES): Scholarship program designed for the children of Admirals Cove employees
- Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, Inc.: Busch Wildlife is a not-for-profit organization, which funded solely from community donations, manages to care for approximately 4,500 animals
- El Sol: El Sol is a neighborhood resource center designed to provide service to those in need, especially day laborers and their families
- Els For Autism: Grant will fund "Spring into Action" program for early intervention to screen for autism between the ages of 18 months and 3 years
- Jupiter High School Care Team: A non-profit team run by three dedicated teachers to identify "in-need" students (i.e. homeless, clothing, eyeglasses, hearing aids, food, etc.) and provide those items, so that the students can focus on school
- Jupiter Medical Center Foundation: Grant will fund the 75,000 square foot Anderson Family Cancer Building
- Hospice of Palm Beach: Grant will help fund music therapy programs so that live musicians can continue to come in and play for patients and their families
- Maltz Jupiter Theatre: Grant will sponsor Disney's "Newsies," including a family day with Santa
- MyClinic, Inc.: Grant will allow MyClinic to establish a permanent home base, which is important stability for a service that provides excellent healthcare to uninsured families with limited access to healthcare
- Renewal Coalition, Inc.: Grant will help the non-profit whose sole goal is to offer wounded veterans and their families a week in paradise as they transition from active duty to civilian life or back to active duty from civilian life
- Special Olympics Florida of Palm Beach County: Grant will help young athletes focus on basic sports skills as well as language, social, and life skills
- The First Tee of the Palm Beaches: Grant will help reach more children and help them learn that golf is inclusive, not exclusive. Golf is a tool to teach healthy habits to kids from all walks of life and all abilities
- The Lord's Place: The Lord's Place is dedicated to ending the cycle of homelessness. This grant allows for vocational training.
- West Jupiter Community Group / The Edna W. Runner Tutorial Center: This 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization operates an after school tutorial center for at-risk students
The Grants covered a thoughtful range of concerns and need in the Jupiter community, highlighting the fact that the ACF truly is living up to the words of their motto: Enriching Lives.
