Big Dog Ranch Rescue Hosts Kentucky Derby Dog Run

Big Dog Ranch Rescue Hosts Kentucky Derby Dog Run
LOXAHATCHEE, FL – May 7, 2018 – As trumpets sounded and the participants waited anxiously in the starting gate a little bit of the Blue Grass state came to Palm Beach County Saturday.  Big Dog Ranch Rescue held a mini version of the Kentucky Derby featuring rescued animals. Dog lovers from across the area joined in the Derby Day celebrations featuring free food and four runs.

Founder Lauree Simmons said of the first year event, “This is not a run for a race it’s a run for your hearts in hopes of finding a forever home. Through events like this we engage our community and find companions for these beautiful dogs.”

The event will be held again next year and promises to grow in size with participants and all the trappings of the Kentucky Derby. The derby took place at Big Dog Ranch Rescue campus in Loxahatchee and all the monies raised help to fund the largest cage-free no-kill shelter the United States. For more information on Big Dog Ranch Rescue or to donate, adopt or volunteer visit: www.bdrr.org
