JUPITER, FL – March 7, 2017 – In 2012, Bubba and Tom Lloyd of Bubba’s Exotic Motorsports were approached by Turbonetics, the foremost respected name in turbochargers to build a concept Camaro capable of producing tremendous horsepower while retaining most of the originality of its power train. The concept Camaro had to be 50-state-street legal, emission complaint, and complete a 1,200-mile endurance test.
Bubba immediately went into "design mode," and 10 months later revealed the Bubba Edition Turbonetics SSX Concept Camaro, along with the T2 Transformer Camaro they had just completed. Both Camaros were unveiled in front of a packed crowd at McKay Chevrolet. This very special one-off SSX Concept Camaro provided all the latest in technology, while still retaining her creature comforts. The Camaro produced a very respectable 780 horsepower on a 76 mm Turbonetics turbocharger and passed the endurance test with flying colors. News of the Camaro went viral and took an international presence via the Internet as it completed two national tours, was featured in magazines, and pictures of it – along with other cars built at Bubba's Exotic Motorsports – were featured on Western Auto transports trailers for the world to see. It was known as Stage 1. In late 2014, the Camaro was prepped for Stage 2 in Jupiter, and Bubba did it again. This time, laying down 850 horsepower on a brand new Turbonetics turbocharger.
After retiring from two years on the show circuit – the car’s last show being the Florida Hot Rods & Hogs event in December 2015 – the Camaro was sold to a private collector where it sat in an airplane hangar along with the owners’ collection of cars and planes. Recently, the car was re-sold to a business owner in Louisiana.
According to Reggie Wynn at Turbonetics, the platform designed and implemented by Bubba for that LS engine is so popular they cannot keep it in stock.
Headquartered on Commerce Way here in Jupiter, Bubba's Exotic Motorsports is getting ready to make history again with the second Bubba Edition Turbonetics Camaro. They have also just completed building the first Bubba Edition Turbonetics 2017 Eco Boost 4 cylinder Mustang, which laid down an incredible 600 horsepower. Another first.
The all new Bubba Edition Turbonetics Camaro will make it's debut at Super Car Week on January 2018.
The public is invited to stop by and see the new Camaro and many other amazing cars from 9 am to 4pm Monday through Friday at their Jupiter location.
