JUPITER, FL – January 2, 2018 – Since 1975, the McCarthy name has been well known in the Jupiter/Tequesta community. Over the decades and throughout the culinary industry, the McCarthy family has created a legacy for themselves through owning many popular restaurants. Today, the family-owned entity McCarthy’s Irish Pub and Restaurant is known for their traditional Shepherd’s Pie, crispy fish and chips, and tender lamb, but the history behind the business is what makes them unique.

Dating back to 1840, Arthur Watson, the father of Marilyn McCarthy, co-owner of McCarthy’s Irish Pub, was the executive chef of the prestigious Cunard Line, the first British transatlantic steamship from England. Passing on his experience to his daughter, from 1975 to 2005, Marilyn, her husband, and children ran three successful restaurants in the Jupiter are until they decided to retire.

In 2015, Marilyn’s son, Brendon, was eager to bring back the family name and open a new McCarthy’s Pub in Tequesta with an updated look and menu. Keeping it in the family, as tradition holds, Marilyn delved into her decorative abilities to design and decorate the restaurant, mixing a contemporary style with original pieces of décor from their past restaurants. Brendon took to his culinary abilities to shape the menu and drink selection that many locals enjoy.

“It’s not your typical pub,” explains Brendon. “We provide great food, great prices, and fantastic service in a warm, inviting atmosphere.”

With entertainment on the weekend from local artists such as Carla Holbrook and Frankie Spellman, you are sure to find yourself singing along to classics ranging from Nora Jones to Stevie Nicks. As St. Patrick’s day is coming up, each year McCarthy’s holds an exciting celebration for locals to enjoy and relish in the Irish heritage.

McCarthy’s Pub is open Monday through Saturday for dinner from 4pm to 9pm, and will be serving lunch throughout the Winter and Spring seasons from 11:30 am to 2:30pm. If you are looking to satisfy your craving for Irish staples or enjoy a fresh brew, Brendon says it best, “There are no strangers here at the pub, only friends that haven’t met yet.”
