LAKE WORTH, Fla. (Oct. 18, 2018) – The Cultural Council of Palm Beach County will soon debut "The Satellite”, a new pop-up exhibition and event space opening at CityPlace on Friday, Nov. 9 and expected to run through the spring.
Located in the WPB Collective space across from the fountain, “The Satellite” will feature “Reimagine,” a special exhibition of solo artists and samplings of current and past main exhibitions from The Council’s Lake Worth headquarters. The space will also include a visitor information center, an art and design lecture series and special events and programming from local cultural organizations.
“Art is a focal point in the re-imagination of CityPlace into a stimulating downtown urban district, and we’re excited for the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County to bring a pop-up exhibition to our neighborhood,” said Gopal Rajegowda, Senior VP, Related Companies and Cultural Council board member. “This initiative is one of many at CityPlace that allows the community to experience arts and culture in a new way.”
The Satellite’s proximity to other cultural experiences, including the national Downton Abbey Exhibition opening this season, Culture Lab, Armory Art Center Experience (another “pop-up” at CityPlace), the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts and the numerous art fairs and events in and around the Palm Beach County Convention Center, allows The Council to reach new audiences and cultural tourists from around the world – furthering the organization’s mission to promote arts and culture in The Palm Beaches.
“Reimagine” features the following exhibition samplings and Palm Beach County artists:
“I chose these artists and vignettes because each one has a unique place in the Council’s history,” said Nichole Hickey, manager of artist services and the show’s curator. “CityPlace is the perfect location to bring these selections because it provides local artists with important exposure to guests from around the world. I’m excited to showcase the Council’s work in this new, creative way.”
This is the first pop-up exhibition by The Council since it moved into its Lake Worth headquarters in 2012. All artwork in the show is for sale and benefits artists in Palm Beach County.
