JUPITER, FL – April 29, 2017 – Flagler Depot Renovations, The Town of Jupiter, and the Loxahatchee Guild hosted two days of replica costumes and tours at one of Henry Flagler’s original railway depots, originally constructed in 1915. These two days were intended to introduce the historical site and show off the progress that has already been made in revitalizing the antique structure.

In April of 2012, the Henry Flagler Train Depot was moved from Seabrook Drive in Tequesta, to its current location in Sawfish Bay Park. The depot was used for two decades as a stop on Henry Flagler’s railway system up the East Coast of Florida. The quaint yellow depot has recently become the setting of a proposed museum highlighting the history of Flagler’s presence in The Sunshine State. The museum would allow visitors to walk through the original structure of the depot and learn more about Jupiter’s unique history during this period. What makes this revival even more significant is that out of the original 28 depots that were located from Jacksonville to Key West, there are only eight left, one being in our very own backyard.
Interior and exterior renovations will continue into 2018. Be sure to stop by and see the efforts for yourself. As you pay a visit to the Flagler Depot, you will take a step back in time, even if just for a few moments.
