Florida Coast Magazine – Holiday 2019 – A night out full of laughs and good people is always something to be cherished. When that occasion is held in honor of a great cause, then the event becomes even more special. Last month, Florida Coast Magazine put on a “Think Pink Soiree” to not only bring together notable individuals in the community, but to also do its part in the fight against cancer. October is recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and feeling inspired by our Fall issue’s cover lady, Olivia Newton John, the Florida Coast team decided to raise money for a local Breast Cancer foundation.
Opened in 2015, The Margaret W. Niedland Breast Center At Jupiter Medical Center is a 26,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art home for its full spectrum of breast health services. Services provided at the Center include, but are not limited to, 3D mammography, ultrasound breast imaging, genetic testing, and minimally-invasive breast biopsies. Support groups and a number of other activities are available as well to patients and their families.
The Pelican Club, located directly across the river from the Jupiter Lighthouse, hosted the gala and provided a top-notch experience as always. Everyone in attendance had a smile on their face whether taking in the beautiful view, enjoying a cocktail, or sharing a few laughs with fellow guests. Most importantly, the event raised money and awareness for The Margaret W. Niedland Breast Center At Jupiter Medical Center. 100% of the proceeds raised from raffle prizes, donations, and silent auction items was donated to the cause.
Several of the raffle prizes included a Melissa Odabash beach tote, tour-style custom golf club fitting from Joey D Golf, a bottle of Whispering Angel rosé wine, an autographed copy of Olivia Newton John’s book, Olivia, brunch for two at the Pelican Club, a gift certificate to The Dress Collection, and a cooking care package from Lynora’s.
Frankie Spellman provided the entertainment for the evening. As usual, Spellman’s music choices included a variety of songs that kept the atmosphere light and perfect for guests to mingle. To compliment the luxury of the Pelican Club and the stunning view on the patio, was a fabulous spread of hors d’oeuvres and finger foods to nibble on. A number of attendees wore accents of pink in support of the cause.
Thank you to all who attended and to those who donated. It was a wonderful night held at a beautiful venue. We are grateful to live in a special area and to be a part of such an incredible, supportive community.
