Futures Recovery Healthcare Hosts its 3rd Annual Jupiter Recovery Day to Uplift and Give-Back to the Community

JUPITER, FL – September 21, 2021 – On Friday, September 10, Futures Recovery Healthcare will kick-off its annual Jupiter Recovery Day. Jupiter Recovery Day is an annual event that honors and celebrates recovery from mental health and substance use disorders in the local community by bringing everyone together. The event will take place over three days, September 10, and 24-25.

“The idea of Jupiter Recovery Day is to bring local businesses and community members together in the name of recovery; to highlight that recovery from mental health and substance use disorders is possible and there are many living happy, healthy, and sober in this community. They are parents, employees, business owners, philanthropists, students. It’s important that we all come together in the hopes that the unified message spreads to the many in the Jupiter area who still need hope and encouragement to recover.” Says Laura Kunz, Outreach & Community Liaison of Futures Recovery Healthcare.

Each day will have different activities and events for guests to enjoy. The list of community offerings are as follows:

September 10 – Jupiter Recovery Day Online Raffle

September 24/25 – Virtual Fundraiser featuring Jewelry by Kendra Scott. Use this code to purchase jewelry online September 24th & 25th: GIVEBACK-AHKEL

September 25 – Free and discounted tandem kayaks and bikes at Jupiter Outdoor Center from dawn to dusk. Mention “Jupiter Recovery Day” upon arrival.  

September 25 – Boat-In Theater: Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back

Watch the fan favorite movie Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back on the water, under the stars, from a boat, kayak, or paddle board at the Jupiter Pointe Club & Marina. The cost is $10.00 per boat, $10 to bring your own kayak or paddle board and $40.00 to rent a kayak. You can bring your own boat, kayak, or paddle board to the event. Event volunteers will be available to help anchor and launch. Kayak rentals will be through Paddle the Pointe on the Jupiter Pointe Club & Marina property. Their team will be available to help launch the kayaks.

An event like Jupiter Recovery Day connects people in recovery with the rest of the community. It raises awareness for mental health and substance use disorders and helps to overcome the stigma still attached to them. Community events like these may also encourage people with a mental health or substance use disorder to feel more confident about seeking treatment and less afraid of being judged by others.

“It shows people that it is okay to be open about their recovery rather than hide such an important piece of themselves due to shame or fear of judgement.” said Kunz. “When people show up at these events, it helps build positivity and attractiveness around the recovery lifestyle.”  

The event will also raise money for Chasin A Dream Foundation, a local non-profit. Chasin A Dream provides individualized, life-changing assistance to families with children battling life-threatening illnesses and disabilities. With the tagline “locals helping locals,” the foundation shares the spirit of Jupiter Recovery Day. https://www.chasinadream.org/.

There are 26 local businesses involved this year as raffle donors or sponsors. The top sponsorship is from Brown Mechanical Services providing heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration services to the South Florida community.
