Jupiter, FL – March 27, 2019 – Held on Fort Lauderdale Beach, the Tortuga Festival is a three-day, multi-stage music festival featuring some of the biggest names in country, rock and roots music. Two of those names – Mishka and the Wheeland Brothers – will play separate free shows at Guanabanas Island Restaurant & Bar on April 11 and 12, 2019, respectively. The waterfront venue is located at 960 North Highway A1A, Jupiter, FL 33477; both performances are open to those 21 and over.
“We’re always stoked about having Mishka rock the stage here at Guanabanas,” says Talent Buyer Matt Cahur. “The Wheeland Brothers have made some seriously catchy noise on the touring circuit, enough to garner a vaunted Tortuga date.” Cahur, the lead sound engineer who books all of the live music at Guanabanas, founded Roots Music, Inc. more than 20 years ago. This facilitated the successful management of rock and reggae acts, and production and promotion of local and regional concerts. He is also an accomplished songwriter and guitarist.
Though born in Bermuda, Mishka was raised in the Caribbean. His career officially launched with the 1999 release of his self-titled debut. Since then, he has been on both major and independent labels, and his songs have been featured on sound tracks in films and T.V. all over the world. Winner of the iTunes Singer Songwriter of the year award for his digital-only collection of acoustic songs called Guy with a Guitar in 2009. Mishka’s songs have topped the Billboard Magazine Reggae chart three times, and his sixth release, the independent Roots Fidelity, was issued in 2015.
Southern California siblings Nate and Travis Wheeland grew up in Orange County surfing and jamming, all the while powered by hole-in-the-wall bought Mexican food. They churn out inspiring melodies and honest lyrics combined with fun acoustic beach vibes. Their latest studio effort, Lost in the Key of Sea, released in 2016, has taken the pair on tours across the States with acts such as Slightly Stoopid, Donavon Frankenreiter, The Green, and Shwayze.
The Tortuga Music Festival works with the Rock The Ocean Foundation to increase public awareness about the issues impacting the world’s oceans, and to support scientific research, education, and ocean conservation initiatives. Also scheduled to perform: Kenny Chesney, Flo Rida, Sheryl Crow, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, The Wailers, and others. Learn more at www.TortugaMusicFestival.com. Both Mishka and the Wheeland Brothers have been featured on Chesney’s Sirius XM music selector program No Shoes Radio.
