Pelican Club, Jupiter, FL – April 16, 2019 – Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum held their "Inaugural Luminary Luncheon" at the new and prestigious Pelican Club in Jupiter, Florida. Many notable attendees from Lighthouse staff and volunteers to members of the Loxahatchee River Historical Society rubbed shoulders with some celebrities in the area. The highlight of the luncheon was an appearance and speech from honorary co-chairs: football legend Joe Namath and well-known developer Charles Modica. Sharing memories of Jupiter and the importance of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse, Mr. Namath and Mr. Modica delivered their speech in a very humorous and passionate way, while reinforcing the importance of preserving such a structure.
Guests enjoyed pre-lunch drinks on the Pelican Club’s patio overlooking the lighthouse. Then they were ushered into a beautiful dining room to enjoy a three-course lunch. The event was commentated by Jay Cashmere, a news anchor for WPTV News Channel 5.
Cashmere, also local to Jupiter, highlights the importance of the lighthouse stating, “The lighthouse is an iconic structure we are proud of, and it’s a symbol of our community. Anything we can do to support it and keep it going is a must. Protecting and maintaining the lighthouse, while educating both locals and visitors about the history behind it, is very important. We need to preserve it for the generations to come.”
Lighthouse Luminaries are Ambassadors for the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum who promote and fund-raise for the preservation of the Lighthouse and other historic buildings on the site.
Opening in Spring 2019, this venue will showcase coastal ambiance with a classic Floridian touch.
