WEST PALM BEACH, FL – February 29, 2024 – As a teenager in the 90s, I still remember the thrill of purchasing my first Bobbi Brown lipstick and brown eyeshadow pallet. So, when I heard Bobbi’s venture Jones Road Beauty was opening a new store in Palm Beach, I was intrigued. As part of the TikTok generation, my teenage daughter constantly has her finger hovering over the ‘That’s awesome button’ so, hastened to add she came with me.
A professional make-up artist, Bobbi created her first make-up brand in 1991 following the frustration of not having any make-up on the market that suits all. Her products became a huge success and in 1995, she sold Bobbi Brown Cosmetics to Estee Lauder. Fast forward twenty-five years, and what’s the entrepreneurial Bobbi doing with herself these days? She does what she’s best at, sticking to her core belief of ‘no-make-up make-up,’ and in 2020 she launched her new brand, Jones Road Beauty. The name of which comes from a road Bobbi like the sound of while vacationing in the Hamptons.
My daughter and I entered the Palm Beach store which has a fresh and contemporary feel, and as guests posed for photos and sipped on champagne, we all began trying out the products. The packaging like the store’s interior is clean, fresh, and minimalist. Not in a hippie save the earth kind of a way, more of a no-nonsense let’s do what we are good at vibe. With so many products to choose from, we went with what we really needed. Items that are perfect for a working mom always on the go, and a teenager who does not pile on the make-up and wants that natural look.
I ended up choosing the Miracle Balm in a Dusty Rose for $38 and made sure I followed the ‘How To’ advice. Breaking the top surface of the balm with my index finger and warming up the balm, I then applied it to my cheeks and lips. It went on so smoothly and really added that youthful glow I needed, this was probably due to the jojoba seed oil. My daughter loved the fact it felt very light on her skin. I also purchased a Lip and Cheek stick in Mauve Rose for $34. It has a smooth application which complemented the Miracle Balm color we had chosen. We really liked the way we could add a few layers of both products for more of an evening look or keep light for the daytime. The last thing we purchased was The Mascara at $26. With its curved brush, this black mascara went on perfectly “Without any clumps,” as my daughter pointed out, but it also lifted the lashes and separated them giving a cute wide-eyed look.
The next morning, I wake to hear a rummaging in my bathroom, and both my teenage and younger daughter have the Jones Road make-up out on the countertop. I hear my teenager saying to her younger sister, “This is great, it makes your skin all dewy. Mom even looks young with it on.” I shout from the bedroom, “Hey less of the old talk.” I then smile and feel good about myself, yep Mom knows something about good make-up too. Congrats Bobbi, Jones Road Beauty, Palm Beach does not disappoint, and thank goodness the price point isn’t extortionate, I have a feeling we will be ordering a lot more from your store soon!
