TEQUESTA, FL – September 5, 2017 – The Lighthouse ArtCenter Gallery and School of Art opens the doors to its 2017-18 season with a full media experience that features the work of the Lighthouse ArtCenter’s expanded faculty. Beginning September 5 and running through October 28, 2017, a dynamic exhibition that includes a variety of artistic designs and forms will fill the gallery’s 3,500 square feet of well-lit space for patrons to enjoy. Many of the artists’ works will be offered for sale.
“This is an exciting launch to the 2017-2018 season,” said Lighthouse ArtCenter Curator, Janeen Mason, “It is certain to inspire the imagination and engage all the senses.”
The opening reception and awards ceremony on September 21, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., provides the opportunity for members and guests to enjoy a lovely glass of wine, sample delicious hors d’oeuvres, visit with the faculty, view the artwork and talk about their exceptional classes and workshops.
The opening of the 2017-18 season marks the 54th time the Lighthouse ArtCenter has provided Palm Beach and Martin counties a premier gallery and art school to attract visitors, vacationers and local patrons to enjoy, create, collect and relax with a unique variety of art forms.
“Our staff and faculty are ready and excited about the new season,” said Lighthouse ArtCenter Gallery and School of Art Executive Director Nancy Politsch. “We’ve all shined and polished for another year, and we’re excited to invite the community in. We have the art to make people smile and at the same time to think.”
According to curator Mason, many people dream of creating art, however, few are called to the profession early in life. Mason says our cultural heritage depends on both sets of people; those who start young and follow their dreams, and those who wake up one day and say to themselves, “If not now, then when?”
“The Lighthouse ArtCenter has a gifted group of 35 faculty members with extraordinary talents,” said Politsch. “We are so proud to put their creativity on display to launch our new season. And nobody displays an artist’s work better than our own curator, Janeen Mason.”
Among the featured faculty artists are…
And a unique opportunity to see very unusual work in the Pop Up gallery….
Kazimierz Kalkowski: one of Poland’s most prestigious ceramists
“The words of the Editor in Chief of Arts and Antiques, Barbara S. Tapp, provide a fitting summation,” said Mason. The more computerized the world becomes, the more important art is, especially that which bears the mark of the hand most clearly – paintings, drawings and sculpture in particular.” When there is a personal story behind the art, we tend to cherish the experience of creating and collecting even more.
