Post-Hurricane Updates for Jupiter

JUPITER, FL – September 13, 2017 – What a storm! After the past couple of days in Palm Beach County, above all, we are thankful that Jupiter was lucky enough to stray away from the devastation that the Keys, Miami, and the West Coast have endured. Although many areas are still without power and Internet, FPL has been working day and night, bringing in teams from across the country, to relieve the damage that has been done. Police, firefighters, the Coast Guard, and other rescue teams have been risking their lives to help those in need across the state to ensure the safety of our neighboring cities, which we are incredibly thankful for.

As we know, the road conditions haven’t been the best, there has been a daily curfew maintained for Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens, and many businesses and schools have not re-opened due power outage.

InJupiter has the most recent updates surrounding these topics:

School System

·     Jupiter schools are closed through Wednesday; further information will be released regarding the rest of the week.

·     All Palm Beach County schools and district offices will be closed all week, and will reopen on Monday.

 Curfew

·     The daily curfew for Wednesday is midnight – 6AM. Further curfews for the rest of the week will be released by local police departments.

Power

·     Total customers in Palm Beach County: 739,000

·     Total customers out: 264,360

Garbage Collection

·     Palm Beach Gardens curbside garbage collection resumed yesterday. Recycling collection will resume today.

·     Waste Management’s curbside garbage collection will resume Thursday in Juno Beach. Recycling and household garbage collection will resume Monday

·     Town officials will announce when yard debris will be collected. 

Stores

·     Publix stores are reopening. Home Depot is open currently on Indiantown Road.

Parks

·     All Town of Jupiter parks are closed until further notice.

Roads

·     Downed traffic lights and intersections should be treated as a four-way stops.

Town Hall

·     Town Hall and the Community Center are open.

Sports

·     All Jupiter Tequesta Athletic Association (JTAA) activities have been postponed until further notice.

 Loggerhead Marinelife Center, Juno Pier

·     Both facilities are closed until further notice
