Miami, Florida - May 18, 2020 - S.E.E.K Foundation, Inc., a South-Florida based mobile nonprofit that services children from ages 3-18 in STEM/STEAM Education, Health, Fitness and Community Involvement, has received a $5,000 grant from Bumble, the women-first social network with over 90 million users worldwide. The contribution is a part of Bumble’s Community Grant Program, developed to support local businesses around the globe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
SEEK Foundation, Inc. (which stands for Seeking Education Empowers Knowledge) is aimed to teach STEM/STEAM (science, technology, education, arts, mathematics) activities to children all over the nation.
“STEM education is integrated in our daily life and I’m so happy that Bumble realizes its importance,” says SEEK Foundation, Inc.’s Founder, Anike Sakariyawo. “It is important because it allows students to be exposed to various genres in science; promotes technology, innovation and creativity within a world that is constantly changing.”
Over 180 businesses in 11 countries were chosen to receive up to $5,000 each in monetary support from Bumble. Out of more than 20,000 applications, SEEK Foundation, Inc. was one of the local businesses chosen to receive a grant.
Starting from March 23, U.S. applications were available via an online registration form accessible in all three modes of the Bumble app (Bumble Date, Bumble BFF, Bumble Bizz). Bumble users had the opportunity to either request a grant for themselves as a small business owner or nominate a small business in their community. Applications were available in the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, India, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Germany, Russia, and France.
In addition to the Bumble Community Grant Program, the social network has also made donations supporting its global community during this time, including a $100,000 contribution to the WHO COVID-19 Solidarity Fund and a $100,000 donation to National Domestic Violence Hotline.
To date, SEEK Foundation, Inc. has impacted over 10,000 lives and will use this sponsorship to advance the youth through innovative workshops, education courses, and STEM/STEAM training.
