JUPITER, FL – August 16, 2017 – Furry Friends Adoption, Clinic & Ranch is in the final stretch of planning their 3rd Annual Hang 20 Surf Dog Classic at Carlin Park on Jupiter beach. This dog surfing competition is the only one of its kind in Palm Beach County and is expected to attract three thousand people. This Jupiter tradition has something for everyone including your pet. So, come out and support this worthy cause while watching the dogs surf then eat, and drink, enjoy the entertainment and music, shop, and take in the Florida sun.
The event will begin with the surf dog registration at 7:45 a.m. and at the same time the vendor village will open with an assortment of pet related items and services, and will feature local businesses such as Chic Boutique, Sirens and Sea Maidens, Off the Mat clothing, Spikes Bite, Bala Boutique, Seaside Paws, Kool Karma Bracelets to shop and discover. New this year, will be the blessing of the animals on the beach for anyone to bring their pet at 8:15 a.m. provided by pastor Matt Wilson of New City Church.
The dog surf heats begin at 8:30 am until 11 am featuring the judges Meteorologist James Wieland, WPTV's Surfin’ Weatherman, Jason Pennington with the KVJ morning show on WRMF, local surfer Jeffrey Tutt, Jupiter surfer Michael Bloom, and pro surfer Lyn Meyers. The emcee will be Don French, owner of Ocean Magic surf shop in Jupiter.
Enjoy the new Bark and Brunch all day starting at 9 a.m. sponsored by Kathie Kaminske with Golden Bear Realty and the Affinity Construction Group. Brunch tickets are $7.00 and the brunch food and beverages will be provided by Carrabba’s, Cod & Capers Seafood, Another Broken Egg, Tito’s Vodka, Voga, and Oceana Coffee.
The Awards Ceremony will award trophies for first, second, and third place in each heat and will begin at 11 am. In addition, Furry Friends will introduce a parade of adoptable animals to become a new member of your family. Dog surf lessons are being offered by Surfur Dogs with Sam Chiet leading up to the beachside competition. This competition is open to the public to come and watch or simply enter your dog to participate. Bathing suits and beach chairs are encouraged.
The fun Cowabunga Kids Zone is being presented by the New City Church and the Oceanview United Methodist Church. They will have activities all day including arts and crafts with surf board making, flower leis for the kids as well as making dog treat jars, and will feature a photo booth for you and your pet.
There will be music throughout the event to keep the fun going on all day. From steel drums by Albert Rodney in the vendor village to the classic rock sounds of local favorite, the Sierra Band (11:30 am) including band members Robert Chapman, Pat Channing, Ed Rieck, David Snetsinger and Todd Walker all lovers of rescue animals!
Furry Friends Adoption, Clinic, & Ranch is a 501c 3 not-for-profit based in Jupiter, and is the only no kill rescue organization in the Northern Palm Beach County. Please come out and support your local shelter who has been rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming homeless animals in our community for more than 30 years.

This event is a fundraiser for Furry Friends Adoption, Clinic & Ranch. It is free to attend and donations are recommended. To register your dog to participate in the competition it will cost $45.00. The community support continues with a Hang 20 Pre-Party on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Guanabanas in Jupiter. As part of their Give Back Thursday from 6 pm-9 pm all Mako vodka drink sales will be donated back to Furry Friends Adoption, Clinic & Ranch. This fundraiser is open to the public.
