The Palm Beach Post Sunday on the Waterfront to ‘Move North for the Winter’ to Currie Park

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (January 15, 2019) – The City of West Palm Beach encourages residents and visitors to “Hurry Back to Currie” for the January, February and March editions of the City’s monthly outdoor concert series, The Palm Beach Post Sunday on the Waterfront. The move north to Currie Park for the winter months comes after the success of last year’s “Hurry to Currie” campaign during spring break. Residents and visitors will be able to enjoy several of their favorite free city events, including a Farmer’s Market in March, at a different location on the West Palm Beach waterfront. In addition to the programming, Currie Park offers guests plenty of open green space, a playground, tennis courts, a boat ramp into the intracoastal waterway, a Maritime Museum, and a memorial to the late Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr.

“Currie Park is a great place for people of all ages to spend time on the waterfront,” said West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio. “As we look for opportunities to engage the entire community, we’re happy residents and visitors will have a chance to explore more of West Palm Beach through our quality events.”

The concert series is typically on the third Sunday of the month (with the exception of March) and runs from 4 – 7 p.m. The Palm Beach Post Sunday on the Waterfront Schedule at Currie Park is as follows:

Due to the Palm Beach International Boat Show, the regularly scheduled West Palm Beach GreenMarket will be closed on Saturday, March 30. On that same day, the City of West Palm Beach will, instead, host a Farmer’s Market at Currie Park, so residents and visitors can continue their favorite Saturday tradition.

“During the first months of the new year, we see an influx of visitors and part time residents to West Palm Beach and we are excited to highlight Currie Park as another great location for free entertainment,” said Mary Pinak, Community Events Manager for the City of West Palm Beach Department of Parks and Recreation. “In the past, we have changed or cancelled events due to the Boat Show, but after the success of last year’s ‘Hurry to Currie’ spring break promotion, we are again moving them just a mile and a half north so that people can enjoy not only our award-winning programming, but also more of the beautiful downtown. Currie Park is adjacent to the popular Northwood Village, where you can shop, eat and enjoy art before you join us at The Palm Beach Post Sunday on the Waterfront or the Farmer’s Market.”
