SINGER ISLAND, FL – July 5, 2023 – There is a resurgence in hotel restaurant dining across the globe, and with a finger firmly on the culinary pulse, Palm Beach Marriott Singer Island Beach Resort & Spa appointed two new directors, and an executive sous chef to the food and beverage team at 3800 Ocean Restaurant & Lounge. Introducing an array of new, modern dishes to the menu, the InFlorida team were excited to investigate. So, with taste buds ready, we headed to Singer Island.
3800 Ocean is casual chic, and many guests were dressed in their resort wear. I was there with my husband and our planned date night immediately felt relaxed. The staff were very friendly, and our server Gigi was helpful, with a genuine smile. The menu has an impressive array of craft cocktails and our choices of Z’s Twisted Mango Margarita and a Jameson Breeze, were the perfect refresher after a day on the white sands of Singer Island. Our appetizers were an array of flavors with a coriander crusted rare, seared tuna having just the right amount of a wasabi kick, and tasty broiled lump crab cakes with a delicate honey mustard sauce.
Our entrees arrived shortly after we finished our appetizer. The food was well presented and the fish dishes we both ordered, the Dijon crusted salmon and the plantain roasted yellowtail snapper with a mango-honeydew relish, were cooked to perfection. How else did 3800 Ocean grab our attention? Apart from Gigi’s prompt service, and impressive appetizers and entrees, we were in for a treat with our dessert. We just ordered the one as devouring everything left us little room for anything else. The pineapple cheesecake with coconut crust was so scrumptious, we wish we had ordered two.
Talented private chef Andrew Rockerman joins 3800 Ocean as the new executive sous chef, working alongside executive chef Jeffrey Armusik to bring an updated contemporary twist to the restaurant’s American fare. Rockerman, has a wealth of culinary knowledge and has worked with the likes of celebrity chefs Mario Batali, Wolfgang Puck, and Gary Danko. With an expanded leadership team at the restaurant, Michael Guirgis to serve as the food and beverage director, and culinary expert Bill Prante to serve as the assistant food and beverage director, its already providing gastronomic delights to guests visiting 3800 Ocean Restaurant & Lounge.
The only slight dampener to the evening was the renovation currently going on at the resort, which is expected to be completed by September 1st. We suggest reserving a table outside on the white sands, with a clear, unobstructed view of the ocean.
Hotels can often fly under the radar when it comes to choosing a night out. In all honestly, we had never considered eating at a Marriot before, however, it really was a pleasant surprise and after a long day at the beach it was a delicious way to end a picture-perfect day.
Opens for dinner at 5 p.m. daily. Reservations can be made online or by calling 561-340-1795.
